DayZ making the jump from Xbox Preview to full Xbox release

DayZ making the jump from Xbox Preview to full Xbox release

It’s been a long 7 years for DayZ since it’s launch in 2012 as a mod for the realistic shooter ARMA 2. The mod slowly evolved, adding new features over time. Then DayZ went into early access in 2013 on PC, continually updating the gameplay and mechanics to make the game more complex and to put an increased focus on team-based PvP. The game features more than 200 kilometers in a single map, choked with zombie hordes and vicious bandits. Players must fight their way across the massive DayZ map, scavenging weapons and vehicles along the way. It’s all pretty fun for those looking to shoot some zombies.

And in August 2018, Bohemia partnered with Microsoft to bring the shooter to the Xbox One via the Xbox Game Preview program. After a year in that program, the developers have finally brought the console port to a state where it can be considered in a complete state.

This new version, version 1.0, will include many of the missing features from the PC version in the game for the Xbox platform. The update will include improved rendering performance, optimized inventory performance, better inventory interaction, new controller layout which introduces some missing controls like holding breath, leaning, dodging and better optics interactions, and general improvements to player controls.

To celebrate the full launch of the game, Bohemia Interactive also released a new cinematic trailer to get fans hyped up to sink their teeth into the flesh of the Xbox One version of DayZ. You can find said trailer down below. The Xbox One variant of DayZ will drop for the console on March 27th.

As of now, there’s no word on other platforms, sorry Sony fans, no confirmed PS4 release for this particular zombie shooter as of yet.
