Control heads to Nintendo Switch today in Control: Ultimate Edition Cloud Version

Control Cinematic Story Trailer

Control: Ultimate Edition Cloud Version is a thing apparently. Nintendo has held its final Partner Showcase of the year, announcing the new port. It’s a very surprising thing to see on the Nintendo platform. No physical release though, for obvious reasons. And yes, this is the full Ultimate Edition which includes the DLC.

Control: Ultimate Edition Cloud Version is available on the Nintendo eShop as of now. The game features all the basic content from the game, and has been tuned to work on the portable console. And not be outdone, the port also includes both expansions—The Foundation and AWE—adding plenty of new content to the game. There are new enemies to fight and tons of nonsense to deal with.

Control: Ultimate Edition Cloud Version takes a lesson from Capcom and uses cloud-based gaming to make the game work on weaker hardware. The original version of the game features some pretty intense physics and lighting effects, so the Switch wouldn’t normally be able to handle it all. The Switch will need a WiFi connection for the game to work, as it’s effectively playing the game on Nintendo servers and then piping the output to the console.

Hopefully, as cloud-based gaming gains in popularity, there will be more ports. Nintendo could definitely compete better with the new PS5 and XSX if they have more incredibly intense AAA games on the Switch. We will just have to wait and see what happens.
