Code Vein shows off boss in new trailer

Code Vein

In yet another trailer for their upcoming RPG, Bandai Namco has revealed one more trailer. And with this new snippet, gamers get to take a look at one of the many bosses in the game. This newly revealed boss is actually kind of terrifying.

And of course, this boss somehow ties into the story of the game. Code Vein revolves around a blood plague that has nearly wiped out humanity. In an attempt at survival, a ghastly race of vampiric individuals called Revenants were created. These vampires were the result of fusing humans with the BOR parasite. These new heroes gained some incredible blood-based powers in the process.

And in an entirely predictable series of events, the BOR parasite also mutated other organisms. These freaks are the enemies and bosses of the RPG, and this new boss, called the Successor of the Ribcage is a horrific mix of a wolf, a pile of bones and pure terror. Players will have to deal with a variety of lightning, frost and fire-based  attacks if they want to take this beast down, which won’t be easy.

Official description from Bandai Namco:

“The world as we know it is gone. At the center of the destruction lies a hidden society of Revenants called Vein. Those who remain fight for survival by acquiring Gifts of power in exchange for their memories, and an ever-increasing thirst for blood. Give into the bloodlust fully and risk becoming one of the Lost; fiendish ghouls devoid of any remaining humanity who wander aimlessly in search of blood. Team up and embark on a journey to the ends of hell to unlock your past and escape your living nightmare in Code Vein.”

There are plenty of other trailers to gawk at as well. Code Vein also released a bunch of trailers showing off the bloody action. Here’s one, and here’s another. And if you want to take a deeper dive, take a look at this behind-the-scenes trailer.

There’s also some trailers also showing Revenants like Io, Louis, Yakumo and so many more. Each character has their own story and motivations, and unlocking their past may well be part of the game experience here, we’ll have to wait for release to find out.

Bandai Namco announced that Code Vein will be debuting on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on September 27, 2019.
