Anthem is coming soon, and Electronic Arts aren’t sleeping on the launch button, they’re busy pumping out new content, trailers and announcements to hype the upcoming game. The latest bit of fun little promotional material comes to us in the form of a live-action trailer titled Conviction.
Filmmaker Neill Blomkamp‘s (District 9, Elysium, Chappie) collaboration with EA and Bioware on this turned some really impressive results. This trailer teases a story taking places years before the events of the game, and we see only the slightest teases of story elements. There’s clearly different factions at play, each vying for power through either overt or covert methods, but the end result always looks the same, destruction. Whether players will have an impact on this seeming cycle when the game releases, and depends on how the story unfolds in the game.
Anthem is the new RPG shooter hybrid from EA and Bioware, with a huge focus on narrative and storytelling, the aim is to immerse the player in the world created for the game. That world is inhabited by evil groups like the Dominion, but also people just trying to survive. The conflict between the forces of good and evil is balanced by a group of freelancers wearing hyper-advanced Javelin exosuits. These suits allow the players to do things no one else can even dream of, and they’ve earned a heroic bit of admiration because of their past deeds. However, when the game releases that could all change as the player decides to take the story on their own path.
If you want to learn more about the story of Anthem, EA and Bioware have recently released a trailer detailing just that, story. Those planning to grab the game on PC should take a look at the Anthem system requirements to make sure their systems are up to snuff. And also, the game is getting a special console bundle on the Xbox.
