As part of the gauntlet of dozens of game announcements at E3 2019, Square Enix has their own glut of new titles and new gameplay footage to show. A big part of their press conference this year was the reveal of Final Fantasy 7 Remake and more news about the very anticipated RPG. Games finally got the release date for the title, as well some teases of cinematic moments. And now, Square Enix has revealed a snippet of gameplay.
The newest gameplay focuses on a boss fight that fans will remember well if they cast their memory back to the early game of the original FF7. This level 12 Guard Scorpion is a major obstacle in the Reactor segments in the city of Midgar. It’s a challenging boss fight in the original, and that challenge is set to increase thanks to the new battle system in the remake.
Not only are arenas now full 3D spaces that can be utilized tactically during combat, boss arenas will offer additional environmental changes throughout the course of a given fight. The player will have to position Cloud and Barrett in such a way to avoid the pitfalls and dangers of this changing stage. Clever positioning can even help reduce the damage the boss can deal overall. All this and more means that combat in this new game is going to be much more engaging and give the player a lot less time to plan their moves.
