So there’s a new update coming to Crash Team Racing: Nitro-Fueled. Sony and Activision are partnering up to show off this new mode as well. The new mode is actually a pretty impressive addition called Adventure Mode, and it will allow players to take their chosen racer through a variety of races, each increasing in difficulty and fun as they go.
Adventure mode was a thing in the older games, but Beenox has worked out a system to satisfy both purists and new players by offering each a gameplay experience they can appreciate. Trophy Races, Relic Races, Boss Races and Gem Cups are all coming roaring back into the field, offering their own unique track layouts, obstacles and gameplay mechanics. Players will have a lot to learn when the game finally comes out next month.
As players blast, bump and skid their way through races, you’re eventually going to encounter Cortex and his evil cronies. Your goal is to ultimately take them down, but it will be a test of skill and endurance to do so as you will be running a gauntlet of different race types against rosters that change and evolve after each race. The addition of racer customization makes this easier, as you’re getting better right alongside the competition, but there is definitely a layer of strategy there.
And speaking of older games, there’s some changes being made that fans are going to like. Players will have the option to, when starting an Adventure Mode run, to pick between a single racer and use them for that entire stint, or to switch between racers after each leg of their journey. It’s an interesting and needed change that allows for a lot more flexibility for new players while also allowing challenge for veterans.
Sony also dropped a handful of trailers and gameplay footage for the new mode. You can check out the cinematic trailer for the singleplayer portion of the game down below. Sony has also unveiled some gameplay footage of the mode, that’s down below too. Crash Team Racing: Nitro Fueled is set to release on June 21 on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC
