CD PROJEKT RED issuing refunds, offers weak apology

How to holster your weapons in Cyberpunk 2077

We’re sorry for screwing you over, says CD PROJEKT RED.  CD Projekt Red apologized for not showing the game on base last-gen consoles before its release “and, in consequence, not allowing you to make a more informed decision about your purchase.”  Their new statement this week on the rocky launch of Cyberpunk 2077 for PS4 and Xbox One has been met with well-deserved criticism.

The console versions of their newest title are broken, and for many remain unplayable. CD Projekt Red plans on releasing a pair of large patches that it says “should fix the most prominent problems gamers are facing on last-gen consoles.” But if you’re on PS4 or Xbox One, you have another option than waiting for weeks on the issues to get patched, maybe. Let’s also point out that these patches will be just as rushed as the main game, so the QA and programming teams over at the company are about to have to endure more crunch most likely, really not ideal.

Rather than forcing gamers to just suffer from an objectively bad game, the company has made the right call, at least in part. CD PROJEKT has announced that gamers can get a refund for Cyberpunk 2077. The process is convoluted and restricted to digital versions of the game on these platforms, but it’s better than nothing. If they didn’t do this though, they would have an even bigger PR nightmare on their hands, so the company is doing the bare minimum.

How to get a refund for Cyberpunk 2077 on PS4 and Xbox One

You can claim a refund for Cyberpunk 2077 digitally pretty easily. The biggest problem is that you can only directly claim refunds for the game through PSN or Xbox Store. If you bought the game physically you need to go through that retailer.

Those who can’t get refunds from either the digital storefronts should contact [email protected] and see what the devs can do. It’s not an ideal solution, but it’s the least they could do.
