Capcom may be working on Dragon’s Dogma 2, and new Street Fighter

Street Fighter V Netcode Fix

That leak we talked about earlier this month has had some surprising elements uncovered. A leaked slide from within the company has pointed to various games in the works that are planned for release within the next two years. Capcom plans to release Monster Hunter Rise and Monster Hunter Stories 2 on the PC, giving another new jolt of life into the old hunter. But the big news is actually in the smaller names this time around. And well, one much bigger name. Among the leaks are some old standbys for fans of various classic franchises. Take all of this with a grain of salt though, as it’s very much subject to change.

The following release schedule comes from that aforementioned leak, and it has some pretty huge implications. The biggest news for fighting game fans is the hint of Street Fighter 6. Street Fighter 6 hasn’t even been officially confirmed by Capcom as of yet, but fans are hopeful for news soon. The new upswing in the popularity of the genre thanks to titles like Dragon Ball FighterZ and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has led to many fans being hopeful of more from one of the biggest names in the scene. Hints in the leak suggest that the Street Fighter 6 release date could be as soon as 2022, with some suspecting a port for the PS4 and Xbox One.

Furthermore, this leaked release schedule confirms the existence of Resident Evil 4 Remake, as well as other revamps and returns to Capcom classics. Hints at both a new Dragon’s Dogma title and a new Onimusha game are buried within the leaks. Details on such sequels are very scarce though, and thanks to the COVID-19 chaos, it’s unlikely we will hear anything this year.

Some other cult franchises didn’t get a mention though, like Marvel vs Capcom, which is still reeling after the embarrassing failure of Marvel vs Capcom Infinite. Turns out that just shoehorning in popular franchises into fighting games without popular and tournament support isn’t a recipe for success.
