Can you play Knockout City in split screen?

Knockout City may be the big new thing in gaming this month. The new Electronic Arts hit game offers a ton of fun. Players take spots on a team of Brawlers. As you jump and zip around the colorful city maps, you will find tons of balls flying at your face. And no, it’s not the plot of some adult cartoon, it’s the latest craze in the battle royale space. A team game with a sports-infused feel that offers both great looks and engaging gameplay.

Knockout City is a great mixup of the classic team deathmatch modes that dominated online shooters. If you ever wanted to live out some truly destructive dodgeball fantasies, this is the game for you. This new title allows you to play on multiple size teams across a variety of maps, ensuring each match is somewhat unique. And with the amount of hilarity going on, there’s always something to blast in the face with your balls. You can whack enemies with balls to empty their hit points, or you can send them careening off buildings, either way, it’s a blast.

It would be great if you could play Knockout City splitscreen, right? Having to rush around the beautifully designed maps looking for a ball is tons of fun. And as someone who got really into classic Halo and Halo 2 because of custom games with friends, this is the prime opportunity to recapture some of that magic.

Unfortunately, the answer to the splitscreen question is no. Knockout City does not support split-screen functionality in its multiplayer modes. You can’t hop into a match with a roommate or kid right now. Developer Velan has also not announced any plans to add the function at a later date. That could change at some point, but it seems unlikely. Given how popular online play is in the modern era, classic couch gaming may be going the way of the dodo.

While you cannot play Knockout City with a friend locally, you can always add them as a friend by using cross-play, which offers gamers the chance to play against others around the globe.

This new sports brawler is out now for PC. Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
