Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl have blasted their way onto the Switch this month, bringing the DS classics to a new era. Players who didn’t get to enjoy Platinum or the earlier games in that Gen are in for a treat. With nearly 500 Pokémon to find, it’s a dream for older fans. The game has a lot going on. And that means you need to learn a bit if you really want to master it. With all the monsters to capture and battles to fight, there’s a lot of fun to be had.
But let’s say you finished the game and beat the Elite Four. Let’s also assume you have a younger sibling or cousin who wants to try the game. Do they need to use your save? You probably don’t want someone messing up your progress, so maybe not. If they want their own save, can you have multiple saves in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl? Let’s find out
Can you have more than one save in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl?
Unfortunately, no, you can only have one save file in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond/ Shining Pearl. If you do open a new save, you will overwrite your old one. That limitation is not universal though, so it’s not all bad news.
Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl has one workaround though. You can use the accounts on your Switch to have multiple saves. This won’t allow any exploits relating to Trades or battles, but it can be helpful if you share your console. That way, there’s no way someone would accidentally delete your save. As someone who had a fully completed Red save lost to a careless sibling years ago, I know that pain well.
You can, however, delete any save attached to a certain profile, if you want.
There’s a lot to learn about this game. You might want to learn a bit about Affection bonuses. If you want more encounters, try finding some Honey Trees. There have also been some new additions to character customization that you need to know about.
You should also stop over and grab the Explorer’s Kit as well. Now that you have unlocked more of the game go out and have fun. And if you want to trade and battle, you can do that too. You don’t need the NSO Expansion Pack to access online in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl.
