Steam just has many more games and a thriving community. and it just has more users. one way that EGS could recruit more interest is to fix various issues. The platform needs new features, like game gifting.

Unfortunately, the answer is that no, you cannot gift games on EGS. The feature might be coming. It has been a while since the service launched, and features have been slow to debut. Epic has been trying to entice users with free games. Despite this, the service isn’t generating much hype. Most players jump on, grab the free games, and run.
The storefront still lacks a cart for one thing, so you can only buy one game at a time. This is probably part of the reason. Since you can only purchase one game at a time, and it is permanently bound to your account, you can’t gift them.
The only way around this is to buy a prepaid card. There are no Epic Games Gift Cards yet, but there’s a way around that. You can buy a pre-paid credit card from many retailers and load it with cash. Gift that to a friend and let them use it to buy games on EGS. This is definitely not the best solution as fees and regional restrictions on virtual credit cards and these prepaid cards get in the way.
