Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Dark Edition Leaks Online

Call of Duty Modern Warfare

So a big AAA release in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has finally been confirmed. We even know that the new FPS is essentially a much more realistic revisiting of the original Modern Warfare series of games. It lacks a zombies mode, returns to a singleplayer experience, and strips down the multiplayer experience to a much more frantic and realistic sense of FPS combat.

And as is typical with the AAA gaming industry standards of 2019, this new game is getting multiple special versions, as new leaks suggest. This was spotted on the Gamestop website earlier today, offering a preview of what Infinity Ward and Activision have in store for the game and it’s monetization strategy. So far, two versions have been leaked, with both apparently being exclusive to Gamestop in the US. The listing was quickly pulled, but folks managed to grab a screenshot showing it on the site as proof.

Call of Duty Dark Edition Leak

So the Dark Edition Collector’s Edition of the game includes a ton of bonuses, both physical and digital, we just don’t know for sure what this high-end bit of kit comes with. However, we do know what another special version of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will include. A cheaper variant of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is called the Precision Edition, offering some cool mix of physical and digital freebies. The Dark Edition costs $199, suggesting that it will include some kind of physical bonus, possibly a statue of the iconic Soap.

Here’s everything that comes in the GameStop-exclusive Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Precision Edition.

  • Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Game
  • Collectible Steelbook
  • KontrolFreek Modern Warfare Performance Thumbsticks
  • KontrolFreek Modern Warfare Controller Skin
  • Operator Pack (Digital Items):
  • 3 Cosmetic Weapon Variants
  • 3 Operator Skins
  • Additional Bonus Items
  • Custom In-Game Tactical Knife
  • Call of Duty Endowment C.O.D.E. Calling Card

With the release of this new info, we can now see exactly what this game has planned. For one thing, cosmetic items will definitely be part of the multiplayer model. This alone suggests that loot boxes like those in Overwatch could be headed for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, although this has not been confirmed. The game will have cross-play though, and yes, that’s across all platforms in multiplayer. But with the free maps DLC and lack of Season Pass, the game is probably going to lean really heavily on microtransactions.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will launch on October 25 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
