Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 beta details

Call of Duty Black Ops 4

Treyarch has announced the details and start times of the multiplayer Beta for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4.

Here are the basic start times for each platform for this first Beta:

PC/Xbox One: August 10 – 13

PC Early Access: August 10

PC Open Beta: August 11 – 13

PS4: August 3 – 6

PC players should be aware that the beta on that platform is exclusive to Battle.Net and its client.

So now let’s dig in to what this beta will actually cover. We already know it’s about stress testing the multiplayer modes, so what modes are there?

During this time you will be able to play Team Deathmatch, Domination, Hardpoint, and Search & Destroy. The recently introduced Control mode will also have a presence during the multiplayer beta.

For those that aren’t aware, Control is a unique game type centered around defending two static objectives. Teams trade off attacking and defending roles between rounds. Each team has a limited number of lives to use as respawns, so the mode is highly strategic compared to a typical CTF or Deathmatch mode.

‘The team has been having a ridiculous amount of fun playing it internally. We are so excited to be able to share that fun with you in September. The community feedback generated from going hands-on is always incredibly important, and it’s never been more so than with Blackout,’ said Yale Miller, senior producer at Treyarch.

There are also specific rewards for partaking in the Beta as well. All players will receive a “one-of-a-kind” calling card, and anyone that achieves the max rank will get a Permanent Unlock Token for the Create-a-Class system. These features should roll over to the main game, although ranks will be reset obviously.

The team will roll out a second beta in September to test the Battle Royale mode, Blackout. Not much is known about this yet, but it’ll again come to PS4 before any other format, and will be available on all platforms.

And even though the game will have a new take on the zombie mode, but won’t feature a singleplayer campaign, gamers are super excited to get their hands on the next CoD title. They just have to wait a little bit longer to get their hands on this first taste with the beta.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 will launch on October 12.
