The newest updates to the latest CoD are here, say hello to Operation Apocalypse Z. The big idea with this in-game event and associated patch, as the name implies, is improving the zombies mode in Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. A new Alpha Omega chapter is being added to the shooter, with some powerful new Elixirs that massively buff your character also making a return to the franchise.

The update is coming to all platforms, but it will drop for PS4 first. Operation Apocalypse Z kicks off today in Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 on PlayStation 4, and will come to PC and Xbox One after the exclusivity period approximately a month or so later.

But it’s not just a zombies mode in this patch that has players excited. The update is also introducing a new melee-focused game mode called Sticks and Stones. This mode forces players to use a crossbow, ballistic knife and combat axes while in combat. As part of this update, the Black Market will also get some new options for purchases. Weapons like the Reaver C86 crossbow, the Argus shotgun and the Backhander – a disembodied zombie arm – will be included.

Blackout is also getting a few new additions with Operation Apocalypse Z. A new variant to the Alcatraz map that shifts the action to a night time setting is being introduced, and used as a base for the new Alcatraz Portals Horde mode. Other elements of multiplayer are getting some minor new content as well, as a new Specialist joins the fray. Heavy Weapons aficionado Reaper returns with his machine gun that you should definitely run from. as well as a new Radar Shroud ability that can help hide teammates. Gamers can expect more modes and content as time passes as well.
