Borderlands 3 heads to Steam in March, teases DLC

Borderlands 3 Guns, Love, and Tentacles: The Marriage of Wainwright & Hammerlock

Borderlands 3 had a fair bit of news to share at PAX East this week, as Gearbox took to the stage to share the plans they had for the future. Gearbox Software not only announced the Steam launch date, as this game was previously an Epic Store exclusive, but they also announced some new DLC is coming too.

Gaige, a fan-favorite character from the second game, is coming back. Gaige returns to help hunt a new breed of mutated freaks and Vault Monsters, with all-new challenges in store for the players. These new tasks will offer excellent rewards though, as the new DLC includes “Legendaries and some supremely powerful Class Mods.”

The DLC packs a decidedly on-brand punch, even with just its title. It is also quite the mouthful as Guns, Love, and Tentacles: The Marriage of Wainwright & Hammerlock is the new DLC. The story of this addon will follow Alistair Hammerlock and Wainwright Jakobs as the reap and sow chaos and death for their honeymoon, no really.

That’s just the start though, as the following months include various new miniature quests and in-game events. For example, The Guardian Takedown is coming to the new game to offer some of the “most challenging content in the game,” according to the team. That’s coming May, but in April two more events bring the carnage with Mayhem Mode 2.0 and Revenge of the Cartels.

And with all of this new DLC and returning characters, Gearbox is also planning more. There are ideas in the works to expand previous DLC and in-game events, like Moxxi’s Heist of the Handsome Jackpot, with new elements and possibly new entire story chapters. And even though we don’t have any further details on that, we should expect more soon.

Borderlands 3 gets hurled onto Steam on March 13. Guns, Love, and Tentacles: The Marriage of Wainwright & Hammerlock will be available later on March 26.
