Book of Demons release date announced for Nintendo Switch, PS4, and Xbox One

Book of Demons

Book of Demons finally has a release date per a new announcement from publisher 505 Games. The game will finally come to consoles, releasing on  PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch on Thursday, April 30. Players first announced this new earlier this week, detailing that the game will finally come to the three major consoles of the era. Nintendo Switch owners in particular will save 10% if they pre-order Book of Demons from the Nintendo eShop.

The publisher has also released a new trailer showing off the game and detailing new elements in the console releases. Check that out below. As for the game itself, it’s a very simple concept with tons of style.  Book of Demons is a deck-building game that tasks the player with taking down various evil foes via a mix of dungeon-crawling and hack and slash gameplay. The player chooses from three classes — Warrior, Mage, and Rogue — each with their own style and tons of unique cards. There are 40 different cards that players can plug into their decks to add some different styles of play and an increase of power when fighting various monsters.

As players do that adventuring, slaying demons along the way, they will pick up a variety of loot and powerful magics. The core of the gameplay around improving your deck to take on tougher challenges relies on putting in different spells, weapons, and upgrade items into the rotation. As you power up your deck, you will find that the hordes of demons are going to get stronger as well. Maybe you can defeat the Archdemon, the final boss of the game, but it won’t be easy.

The developer has also added a feature that will allow players to break down Book of Demons into “sessions.” The feature will allow the in-game engine to learn and adapt to the way players play the game. Think of it like the AI Director Valve implemented in Left4Dead to make it more or less challenging for players.

Book of Demons will release for a price of $24.99 (£19.99) across the Americas and Europe. The game will debut for countries in Asia later in 2020.
