Black Desert Online overhauls Conquests, extends events and increases rewards

Black Desert Online Siege System Changes Incoming

We covered the controversial plan to overhaul the Node War and Conquest systems in Black Desert Online a little bit ago, well now the patch has gone live, or least it’s attempting to. As of writing, the servers have had sporadic bugs and outages that are potentially a result of failed patch implementations.

As far as the changes themselves, here’s the relevant patch notes:

Node War

Conquest War

The choice of allowing the top-tier (meaning those with the most Nodes occupied) means that the best-equipped and most-skilled players should be the ones competing for the most valuable Nodes. Although I’d expect plenty of monopolistic Node camping and “punching down”, with stronger guilds dominating weaker ones, to occur as a result of this change. We’ll just have to keep an eye on the situation to see if that prediction holds true.

The Conquest War changes do appear to be making an attempt to nerf the force projection of Castles, while buffing various other units like Cannons, but it may not be enough to discourage negative behavior.

The number of Conquest Nodes remains at 154, so no ability to spread out over larger areas in order to defuse concentration of forces, at least not yet.

These were just a snippet of the full patch notes by the way, you need to read this massive tome for yourself to wrap your head around all of the changes. Better grab a cup of coffee and settle in.

A new event is also kicking off today and running into August; players will be chopping down trees (and performing other soft gathering skills) to collect Serbianca’s Vouchers, which they can then exchange for logs to construct the Epheria frigate. This event joins the rotation as the other major event event for the Summer. Terrmian Waterpark will now run another week, until July 25. Rewards for completion of certain milestones, and overall production output, are also being handed out today for those who have taken part in Mysteries of Summer event thus far.

Other aspects like bugs with abilities, as well as general class balance, have been adjusted as well. Some random enemies that were either too weak or strong have had their stats shifted around too.

Whatever your opinion of these changes, it looks like Black Desert Online is about to get a lot more interesting for the next little while.
