But new and returning events isn’t the only thing in the Lunar New Year update this time around. KaKao and Pearly Abyss have brought forward a bundle of gameplay changes and new systems for players to deal with.

Privacy mode has also been enabled, allowing gamers to effectively appear offline while playing BDO. This mode will block messages and invitations, but will still allow for system messages and death notifications.

Players can now make use of the Injury system.

“We are excited to introduce two new additions to our game: the Devour system, which allows you to convert enhanced gear into Enhancement Chances, and the Privacy Mode for those lone wolves that do not like to be disturbed,” Kakao says. Additionally, “Black Spirit’s Rage can now be used to inflict Injury on enemies, which will prevent them from recovering HP as efficiently.”

The Injury system is essentially a debuff that hampers HP regen. Players and enemies can recover from the status given time, but progress is slow.

E.g. A Warrior consumes Black Spirit’s Rage 100% by using the skill Spinning Slash to attack a Berserker with 5,000 max HP. The Warrior will thus inflict a damage of -2,000 HP on the Berserker. The Berserker will then have an Injury of 1,000 HP, or 50% of the damage that was inflicted. The Berserker can then only recover from its HP of 3,000 up to 4,000 HP, until its Injury is healed (at a rate of 10 HP per 5 sec).

And over on the battle royale side, the Musa and Kunoichi join the fray as playable classes.
