Bethesda reveals new DOOM Eternal footage at E3 2019
The newest addition to the legendary shooter franchise, DOOM, has a bunch of new details courtesy of the Bethesda E3 2019 showcase. The new game, called DOOM Eternal, is taking the franchise in a bold new direction. The game is set to be released in November 2019 for Google Stadia, Microsoft Windows, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. And to hype folks up for said release, Bethesda has unleashed a torrent of new gameplay footage and other bits.
DOOM Eternal will of course continue the story of the ongoing struggle against the legions of Hell, but there’s so much more fun to be had here. The story mode will feature all of the iconic weapons like the Heavy Cannon, Rocket Launcher, Plasma Rifle, and more, as well as melee options like the chainsaw. There’s even some new weapons thrown into the mix like the Crucible blade.
reative director Hugo Martin has stated there will be twice as many demon types as in the 2016 reboot, which means players will have plenty of goodies to blast to pieces. And yes, the gory execution kills are coming back. These will be gorier than ever because the engine itself is being updated to idTech 7, offering a huge visual upgrade. This new engine promises a massive boost to geometric detail across the board.
Another new addition is the new multiplayer Battlemode. This suite of various online gameplay options will include an asymmetric multiplayer mode called “Invasion”, in which players can join others’ single-player campaigns, fighting against them. So it’s basically Dark Souls invasions in a DOOM game.
