Best ways to get ancient fruit in Stardew Valley

Stardew Valley is a game all about farming and building relationships. This surprisingly deep and engaging indie title has a lot to show off, and millions of gamers love its charm and addictive gameplay. You start as a humble farmer and can quickly become the hero of the small town and a beacon of wealth. A big part of how you do that is to be filthy rich. The best way to do that is by growing and processing rare crops, like the ancient fruit in Stardew Valley.

This incredibly rare fruit can only be obtained a select few ways, like from the Ancient Seed artifact you find deep in the mines. You could also use a cheat mod or a hack to get the items and infinite money, but where’s the fun in that? Let’s talk about some other methods to get this rare fruit.

How do you get ancient fruit in Stardew Valley?

There are a few different methods to aim for to get this rare crop. To get started though, you need Ancient Seeds. The Seed Maker is one option for this, although it is a very rare drop. Ancient Seeds can be obtained from Ancient Fruit by using a Seed Maker. Whenever the Seed Maker is used with any crop other than Ancient Fruit, there is also a very small chance (0.5%) to obtain 1-3 Ancient Seeds instead of the crop’s seeds. So that means one method is to create a bunch of excess fruit and then pulp it in a big bank of seed makers every day until you get some Ancient Seeds.

If you do pursue this method, it’s best to donate one of the seeds to the Museum, Gunther will then allow you to claim an Ancient Seeds Packet as a reward. You will also need lots of Gold Bars to make a bunch of Seed Makers, so it’s a pretty late-game approach. You also need to get the farm to level 9 before the recipe will unlock.

Another random method is to check the Traveling Cart, which appears at the southwest of the town. Make sure to head there every day to claim what you need, There is a 1.26% chance that the Seeds will show up each day. It’s a bit better odds than the Seed Maker, but it’s accessible right from the start of the game.

Once you have the Ancient Seed, it’s time to start growing it for mad cash. Plant the seed and water it each day. After 28 days, the seed will grow into a full ancient fruit in Stardew Valley. Thereafter, the mature plant yields another Ancient Fruit every 7 days.

As with any item in the game, you can earn money by selling it to the markets based on quality. Here are the price breakdowns:

  • Basic Quality – 550G (605G with Tiller Profession)
  • Silver Quality – 687G (755G with Tiller Profession)
  • Gold Quality – 825G (907G with Tiller Profession)

The real money from this crop comes in when you take the fruit and turn it into various artisanal crafts. You get a 40% bonus if your character has the Artisan profession on any Ancient Fruit crafts sold.

  • Basic Quality Wine – 1.650G (2,310G with Artisan Profession)
