Best Amiibo to use with Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity Amiibo

The grind is super real in Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity. There are so many items that can be cooked, upgraded and crafted that it’s hard to keep track of all of them. And it’s even harder to farm for them. There’s one way out of the quagmire though, amiibo. The game will let you scan up to five Amiibo a day to claim free weapons, crafting items and other rewards. There are seemingly no special weapons or armor that can be unlocked as the drops are random, but I did notice something interesting.

Most of the Amiibo I tried from a mix of games seem to drop the same three or four items. For example, I tested what ACNH Amiibo cards I had on hand found that they almost exclusively dropped the same three items after several scans in a row. These are seemingly pretty worthless for farming as far as I can tell, unless you want hundreds of Armored Porgy.

It does seem that there’s some background weighted RNG going on, but I can’t confirm it. I tested around 50 different Amiibo, and have found a few that seem heavily tilted towards certain drops. Also, I tested this using the date spam trick, so I have no way of confirming if the game is intentionally nerfing drops to discourage that, although I doubt it. Finally, there’s a chance that the game tilts the drops based on your progress in-game, although it’s hard to confirm this without perpetually scanning amiibo at various points.

There will also be some weapon drops that are unique to each character, as some other users have found weapons that spawn from certain Amiibo that are endgame weapons, although I could not confirm this. So it may be that the game alters the drops depending on how far you are in the game.
