Behemoth from FF XIV invades Monster Hunter World today, more difficult hunt coming soon

Monster Hunter World Behemoth FF XIV release date

The Behemoth from Final Fantasy XIV invades Monster Hunter World today, and an extreme difficulty event featuring the monster is on the schedule for release later this year.

The Behemoth is a special FATE raid boss from Final Fantasy XIV that was introduced to Monster Hunter World as part of ongoing collaboration work between Capcom and Square Enix. You can read more about that and other previous collab work over here. The Behemoth is a pretty vicious beast, and is a great fit for the brutal environs of MHW.

With the recent PC release of Monster Hunter World, gamers have been eagerly digging into the world of MHW, and with the recent introduction of patch 4.01 on consoles, there’s been some equally anticipated waiting for new content from PS4 and Xbox One players as well. Now with the Behemoth update, the game has been pushed into the realm of version 5.00, with a bunch of new bug fixes and quest changes in the latest title update.

The Monster Hunter World Behemoth event kicks off today, August 1 at 5pm PT, 8pm ET and on August 2 at 1am BST, 2am CEST.

For those looking for tips, the fight is borrowing a lot of influence from the source material. It seems like the primary mechanics involve tanking the Envy and Meteor statuses and attacks, and much like the source material, the Behemoth fight works more like a FATE in FF XIV than a traditional Monster Hunter fight.

Water-element damage weapons are the best choice against Behemoth, and it deals Thunder-damage. You’ll also need to be in a multiplayer party with a main tank soaking up the most damage, while support healing and DPS keep the fight going. Sleep and Paralysis affects can have an impact on Behemoth as well, so KO damage could be useful as a secondary aspect.

In addition to the crossover content, there’s plans for more Tempered hunts coming over the next couple of months. According to a Twitter post, Arch-tempered Teostra is coming to MHW on August 10. In September, players will battle against an Arch Tempered Kushala. Both of these new updates will include new armor sets to grind for, and other rewards as well like special guild cards and Palico sets.

Now we just have to wait until Capcom hopefully does the smart thing and introduces a G-rank equivalent to the game. Fingers crossed.
