Battlefleet Gothic Armada 2 details massive campaign in new trailer

Battlefleet Gothic Armada 2 Campaign Trailer

We’re getting closer to the launch of Battlefleet Gothic Armada 2, and things are getting really heated and chaotic. The ability to command massive fleets and send them into oblivion is about to land right in your lap, and 40K fans are really excited. And there’s a new reason to get hype, because we just got a new trailer showcasing the incredible campaign built into the game.

The campaign takes place at a specific point in Warhammer 40K lore, namely the 13th Black Crusade of Abaddon the Despoiler. Each campaign will draw upon different elements of the time period and specific factions to create unique settings and gameplay elements. Battlefleet Gothic: Armada 2 tosses you into one of three campaigns for different factions. The primary focus of the campaigns for the Imperium will be the defense of the fortress world of Cadia, embedded deep in the Eye of Terror.  Meanwhile the Tyranids will be using Genestealers and other infiltration tactics to weaken enemy worlds ahead of full invasions. The Necron campaign instead focuses on awakening lost dynasties in various tomb worlds, as the forgotten race rises from the ashes.

All in all, the strategic map of the galaxy has a surprising amount of depth. Actions taken in tactical battles can have massive impact. Aside from cutting off and invading valuable worlds, using your unique faction traits is key to victory. And if a player manages to eliminate all planets controlled by a faction, there’s the potential to wipe out entire races from the game with carefully timed executions of “Annihilation Arcs”.

Also it’s not just the massive campaign, the multiplayer has a huge amount of variety as well. The multiplayer/skirmish modes have twelve Warhammer 40K races, each with their own sub-factions, ships, and special skills. Players can duke it out with a surprising amount of strategy, each one drawing some inspiration from the race within the lore. Throughout the course of the game we’ll see glimpses of Primarch Roboute Guilliman’s fleet, Trazyn the Infinite, Blackstone Fortresses, and yes, even space whales!
