Battlefield V releases trailer for Chapter 2 – Lightning Strikes
The newest update for Battlefield V, Lightning Strikes drops on January 17th and brings tons of fixes and new content to the historical shooter. Being that it’s part of the Tides of War update cycle, there’s a fair bit changing, as well as some new additions to uncover.
In addition to all the other changes, this patch brings in a bunch of UI fixes and other gameplay adjustments. It’s easier to see where damage is coming from, and certain vehicle elements, like the Stuka’s siren, have been made easier to detect. Multiple weapons have had their damage, handling, and other attributes adjusted.
Speaking of weapons, there’s a fatal four way of new armaments coming with Lightning Strikes. WE have confirmed the following new weapons: the Medic-based Zk-383 SMG, the Assault-based Modele 1944 semi-automatic, and the M1922 MMG for the Support class. There are also two new tank destroyers, one for each faction, although details are scarce on those.
This new update also marks the launch of a new limited-time game mode, Squad Conquest. Squad Conquest is an 8v8 match available on three maps: Arras, Hamada, and Rotterdam. Players duke it out over three capture points spread over a small area. The maps themselves are reworked in this new mode to make the battles happen in much closer quarters. EA has said that Squad Conquest will only run until January 30th, but there is a possibility of it returning at a later date.
Here’s the official description of Squad Conquest from DICE:
These maps all feature 16 players on two teams, three flags, spawning restricted to HQs, and limited access to vehicles. A core belief behind Squad Conquest is a restricted number of variables to allow strategy to be able to exist – you have to be able to predict player behavior and patterns, which is reflected in all three map layouts
