Baldur’s Gate 3 Early Access Teased

Baldur’s Gate 3 Early Access Teased

Developers Larian Studios gave participants and live stream viewers during a PAX East 2020 panel some good news. The company has been working hard on Baldur’s Gate 3. And it appears people are really excited to return to the classic RPG franchise. The company has been taking lessons learned from titles like Divinity: Original Sin 2 and applying them to the classic franchise, making it all the better for it.

Baldur’s Gate 3 Early Access is coming, according to the developer. Larian Studios teased the reveal of Early Access during a panel, wherein they showed off progress on the story and gameplay of the RPG. You can check out the trailer they released showing some of this progress below. Details are still a bit sketchy though, as Larian is still working on assembling the first Early Access build.

Responding to a fan question on the topic at the convention, Larian had some things to say. “We’re going to roll it into early access when bugs, like you saw, are all gone,” Vincke said. “We’re very curious to get the community feedback, the thing is very important for us. We’ll make sure there’s enough content in there to keep you busy, we will make sure you don’t have all of the content, so then you have plenty of content to play through.”

Larian is currently in the stage of polishing the first of the feature-complete builds. When that’s done and all of the bugs are squashed, they will move the game into an Early Access phase. From this Baldur’s Gate 3 Early Access period, expect regular patches and improvements until the game reaches its final form.

The developers have been working hard to finish and polish the game. And compared to the previous games, they’re going above and beyond, and it’s not just new story and gameplay elements. Baldur’s Gate 3 will have more complex character animations, a reactive system for storytelling, and so much more.

Baldur’s Gate 3 was announced previously for PC and Google Stadia. The final release date has not been confirmed yet. That Stadia release may be in trouble though, although this is only speculation based on the recent price change for Stadia. The price change indicates the potential development of problems for Stadia’s future. We will have to wait and see if that changes though.
