Atari Unveils the Atari VCS Gaming Console

Atari VCS Console

Atari unveiled their own answer to the likes of NES and SNES Classic consoles.  The new console is named the Atari VCS, a name hearkening back to the company’s multi-decade roots. It’s logo is even quite a throwback:

We don’t know much about specs or what games are included. We do know that the system will be powered by a custom AMD processor, possibly an APU. The system will run a custom Linux OS.

Atari further teased its functionality by saying the device is “designed for today’s living room” and will “change the way you interact with your TV,” just like the original Atari 2600 did over 40 years ago.

Lastly, Atari will announce pre-order dates for the Atari VCS sometime next month. Atari said last year that its mini-console would likely cost between $250 and $300.
