Assassin’s Creed Odyssey’s Epic Mercenary temporarily shelved

Assassin's Creed Odyssey

Ubisoft has been forced to put Epic Mercenary Live Events in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey on hold for the time being. In an official announcement, the company confirmed that technical issues which remain unsolved are behind the events not working properly.

This won’t be that surprising to those paying attention, as the first two attempts to run an event featuring Damais the Indifferent failed for similar reasons.

Two weeks ago, when we attempted to launch the first Epic Mercenary Event with Damais the Indifferent, we discovered that the content didn’t properly appear for a majority of our players. It wasn’t satisfactory to have an event available to only a portion of our players, so we decided to temporarily remove the Epic Mercenary Events from the game altogether until the issue is resolved.

At least there’s some good news though, the Epic Ship events are going on fine, with several already having taken place in-game. Those will continue each week, barring unforeseen problems.

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is out now on PS4, Xbox One and PC. No idea when the Live Events will be returning to the open-world adventure game, although the timeline from Ubisoft suggests that they’ll return in a few weeks.
