New Assassin’s Creed Odyssey gameplay trailer shows visceral combat

Assassin's Creed Odyssey

There’s yet another Assassin’s Creed Odyssey video on the docket for today, so let’s check it out.

Ubisoft is spending a lot of time and effort into building some quite nifty and appealing combat into this latest Assassin’s Creed game. And when combined with the focus for this latest game on player agency and choice, there’s a definite recipe for success there. To that end, Ubisoft is putting a lot of customization into the combat as well as the rest of the game.

The trailer itself has a lot of teases and details to dig through, so keep your eyes peeled when watching it.

First and foremost, is the skill and ability trees that are a pretty major part of the combat. As you can choose to focus on a couple of different gameplay styles, there are abilities that cater to each style. So do you want to be able to stand your ground and fight, or do you prefer to avoid fights using mobility and stealth? Those kinds of choices permeate the entire experience in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, so be ready to ask yourself these kinds of things a few times while playing.

Last, but not least, we see the gear screen, with weapons and equipment that can be upgraded at the blacksmith. Just like with your abilities, the player is pretty spoiled for choice when it comes to gear.
