Apex Legends to receive its own sports league

Apex Legends

Respawn and Electronic Arts have revealed some surprising news for Apex Legends fans. The popular battle royale title is getting its own pro series of tournaments starting in 2020. There’s actually a lot to this thing, so let’s break it all down.

There will be a total of 12 live events for the league’s first year. These events will be capped by a quad of four major title events to pick the best players out of the pack. The tournaments are collectively called the Global Series. The ranking will be determined by a ranking system, where players accrue Global Series Points based on their placements in the various events. Once the top solo and team players—with teams of three making up team comps—have been determined, the majors will determine the overall season winners. The major events are scheduled for March 13-16.

If you would like to take place, the first open tournament is scheduled for January 25th. Registration is open to PC players in more than 60 countries, and will begin next month.

Respawn and EA even released a trailer for the Global Series, check it out below. For more information on the Apex Legends Global Series, check out the official site.
