Apex Legends The Old Ways Event trailer shows off Bloodhound’s Trials

Apex Legends The Old Ways

The latest Apex Legends Stories from the Outlands episode is titled Apex Legends The Old Ways, and brings with it some new content for players of the team-based shooter to enjoy.

The big focus with this series of updates is Bloodhound. Bloodhound will be getting a bunch of elements that improve on its gameplay and some new mechanics but that’s not all. Bloodhound’s Trials will be a new lore element brought into the game, and we see some more of it within the newly released trailer for the event. Duos and map rotation will become permanent features of the game once the event begins. The Old Ways event will also bring new gameplay modes too.

The final major addition is a set of gameplay modes, led by Town Takeover as a new PvE mode. This new addition to the game mode lineup will allow players to take to the World’s Edge amp and take on some new foes. The most vicious players with the most PvE kills will gain access to a treasure room loaded with some interesting loot.

Check out the trailer for the new event down below. Apex Legends‘ Old Ways Event begins on April 7 and will run until April 21.

The much more somber tone of this event is underscored by some rather interesting fusions of different cultural influences really works too, at least for me. Seeing this kind of stuff fused into popular games is really cool.

There is some bad news though, as Apex Legends The Old Ways will not see the introduction of a permanent solos mode into the game. The developers have said that they won’t be bringing such a mode to the game for one particular reason. Apex was designed from the ground-up as a team game. And according to EA, such a mode would actually harm the longevity of the game.

“When we introduced Solos as a limited-time mode last year we saw it actually negatively impacted the game, especially when it came to new player retention,” EA_David said. “We’ve also purposely designed Legends and their abilities to compliment teamplay and squad composition, but when played Solo some Legend abilities become useless. These are just some of the reasons we decided not to include Solos in today’s update.”
