Anno 1800 will be exclusive to Epic Store, moving there after launch

Ubisoft has some bad news for fans of their Anno strategy games franchise. It turns out that the mega-publisher has inked a deal with Epic Games to bring their games to the Epic Games Store. This so far has been confirmed to include Anno 1800, which is due to launch on PC on April 16th, but now that launch is going to get a little weird.

Ubisoft will be pulling the game from Steam on launch day and moving everything to do with sales of Anno 1800 over to Epic’s services.

Here are the details according to the Steam page:

Sales of Anno 1800 will be discontinued on Steam after April 16th due to a publisher decision to make the game exclusive to another PC store.
The publisher has assured us that all prior sales of the game on Steam will be fulfilled on Steam, and Steam owners will be able to access the game and any future updates or DLC through Steam.
We apologize to Steam customers that were expecting it to be available for sale after the April 16th release date.

Epic announced the first phase of this migration plan during their State of Unreal presentation at GDC 2019. This included a ton of new and upcoming titles jumping over to the Steam competitor service.
